About this game

Ryza heads to the royal capital to investigate the ancient ruins surrounding it. Gathering, synthesis and battles form the recurring activity cycle. At the cauldron, choose a recipe, fill its Material Loops with ingredients and transfer material traits into the finished item once the relevant slots are unlocked. In combat, normal attacks build AP for skills while the other party members act automatically in real time. Ruin investigation asks you to match discovered images with Memory Vestiges, turning findings into information and recipes. New field actions also open places that ordinary movement cannot reach. Progress therefore involves both expanding your routes and deciding how to use the materials and recipes brought back from exploration.

Collected in series

Atelier is an RPG series where gathering ingredients and making useful items are central to the adventure. A better recipe can prepare you for the next outing, while friendships and each alchemist’s goals give you reasons to return to the workshop.

8.5 / 10Nintendo Switch

A fit for players who want exploration discoveries to feed hands-on crafting decisions.

Material Loops and transferable traits suggest that ingredients can remain interesting after they have been collected. Ruin findings becoming recipes also gives players who enjoy investigation a concrete connection between uncovering history and expanding their alchemy options.

Strengths

  • Material and trait choices could make crafting feel like an act of planning rather than a simple resource exchange.
  • Ruin discoveries yielding recipes give investigation a practical role in the crafting loop.

Weaknesses

  • Players who prefer equipment progression without choosing crafting ingredients may find Material Loop decisions an unwanted interruption.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy gathering, investigating ruins and refining how materials become usable items.
