About this game

Yumia investigates the truth about forbidden alchemy on a ruined continent. Explore the field, gather ingredients, and synthesize items that help advance the story and support combat or further exploration. Choosing materials determines an item’s strength; Simple Synthesis also lets you make useful items without leaving the field. Battles unfold in real time, with skills changing according to attack range. Beyond fighting, you can build bases, arrange furniture, and unlock character quests as the main quest progresses. This edition adds local GameShare for two players, with main and support roles that can be switched during exploration and combat.

Collected in series

Atelier is an RPG series where gathering ingredients and making useful items are central to the adventure. A better recipe can prepare you for the next outing, while friendships and each alchemist’s goals give you reasons to return to the workshop.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

For players who want crafting decisions to feed an exploratory RPG with real-time battles.

Material selection gives gathering a practical destination: items that support the next journey or fight. Base decoration and character quests suggest several reasons to step away from the main objective. The combat’s range-dependent skills may appeal to players who want active decisions alongside preparation, though that combination asks for interest in both activities.

Strengths

  • Crafted items connect ingredient gathering with progress and combat, which may make preparation feel purposeful.
  • Furniture placement offers a personal project alongside exploration and quests.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking a wholly unhurried crafting routine may find real-time range decisions less aligned with that preference.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy choosing crafting materials, exploring for ingredients, and switching from preparation to active battles.

Play notes: GameShare is local and uses main and support roles. Direct edition purchasers cannot later obtain the Colorful Collection and Black Rose Magician bonuses through the publisher’s specified special-edition upgrade route.

Main-quest progress unlocks character quests, and base building supplies another activity. These branches may suit players who like interrupting a story objective with smaller projects rather than pursuing it continuously.

Alchemy is taboo in the story but useful in the player’s crafting loop. That connection may make the investigation’s central question more engaging for players who like themes expressed through their actions.

Local GameShare’s main and support roles may suit nearby players who want to take turns leading. The graphics-menu performance setting added in update 1.6.1 also provides a configuration choice, without establishing any particular performance result.
