About this game

Marie has an unusual graduation assignment: create an outstanding alchemical item within five in-game years. You work toward it by learning recipes, collecting ingredients and synthesizing tools and medicines. Books and equipment come from the academy, while adventurers hired in town help fight the monsters encountered on gathering trips. Tavern requests turn finished items into money and reputation when delivered on time. Travelling with companions and fulfilling requests also builds friendships that can lead to character events. You decide which part of that routine to pursue, with Professor Ingrid's tasks providing direction. If the graduation deadline is not the structure you want, Unlimited Mode removes it; the remake lets you approach the same alchemist's life without that overarching time limit.

Collected in series

Atelier is an RPG series where gathering ingredients and making useful items are central to the adventure. A better recipe can prepare you for the next outing, while friendships and each alchemist’s goals give you reasons to return to the workshop.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who enjoy turning small crafting errands into a personal routine.

Gathering, synthesis and paid requests connect everyday choices, so planning what to make can be as appealing as venturing out. Unlimited Mode offers a meaningful alternative for players who want the crafting and relationships without the graduation countdown.

Strengths

  • Requests give crafted items a practical destination, which can make gathering and recipe learning feel connected.
  • The choice to remove the graduation deadline accommodates players more interested in experimenting than working to an overarching schedule.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking a completely deadline-free routine may still dislike the timed delivery conditions on tavern requests.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy ingredient gathering, making useful items and developing friendships through shared activities.

Play notes: Unlimited Mode removes the graduation deadline; it should not be understood as removing the documented deadlines on individual tavern requests.

The graduation limit and Unlimited Mode support different planning preferences, while Ingrid's tasks can help when choosing the next objective feels too open-ended.
