About this game

Robots from different animated works unite against a common enemy. You read the story leading into each tactical battle, then command individual units to move and attack during the allied phase before the enemy takes its turn. Between missions, funds and points earned in battle go toward improving robots and pilots. Tactical Area Selection gives you a choice of battlefields rather than simply presenting the next mission. Those selections affect story development and the order in which units and characters join. Certain area missions also provide funds and experience. AUTO Battle can handle movement and combat on the map, with behavior types configured separately for allied units. Attacks are accompanied by robot battle animations.

8.0 / 10Nintendo Switch

A tactical crossover for players who enjoy directing a robot roster and choosing its path through the story.

Alternating battle phases and between-mission upgrades suggest a cycle of deployment and preparation. Battlefield selection adds another decision layer, particularly appealing if you want some say in story development and recruitment order.

Strengths

  • Battlefield choice can make the route through the crossover story feel more personally directed.
  • Robot and pilot upgrades give battle rewards an ongoing role in developing the roster.

Weaknesses

  • Choosing areas and recruitment order may add unwanted planning for players who prefer a prescribed mission sequence.

Who it is for: Fans of robot crossovers who enjoy phased tactical commands and developing machines and pilots between missions.

Play notes: Additional DLC units and missions are separate from the standard main-game edition.

AUTO Battle and per-unit behavior settings can reduce the need to issue every movement and attack command, at the cost of handing those actions to automation.
