About this game
Star Fox remakes the Nintendo 64 adventure known as Star Fox 64 or Lylat Wars. You pilot the Arwing, fire lasers at enemies, lock onto targets for homing attacks and maneuver out of incoming fire. Boosts add thrust as you move through the campaign. Your route depends on the objectives you complete, so returning to missions can open a different sequence of encounters. Challenge Mode gives completed missions additional objectives. Easy difficulty provides a sturdier ship and stronger laser, while third-person and cockpit perspectives offer different views of the action. The remake also introduces reworked visuals, new voiced dialogue and an orchestral soundtrack.
Collected in series
Star Fox follows Fox McCloud’s spacefaring team through vehicle combat, with branches that take its adventures beyond the cockpit. Its shooting games revolve around steering through danger and lining up shots, while Adventures trades much of that flying for exploration on foot.

Nintendo Switch 2AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A flight-combat remake for players who enjoy refining maneuvers and uncovering alternate routes.
Balancing target locks with evasion can create a useful tension between lining up an attack and protecting the craft. Objective-dependent routes and Challenge Mode may give mission-focused players a reason to return with a different plan.
Strengths
- Homing attacks and evasive movement can make aiming and positioning complementary skills.
- Changing routes and additional mission objectives provide concrete goals for return visits.
Weaknesses
- Discovering alternate routes through repeated missions may appeal less to players who prefer a single linear pass.
Who it is for: Players interested in vehicle shooting, improving their handling of familiar missions and discovering objective-dependent routes.
Play notes: Joy-Con 2 mouse targeting is limited to Campaign Mode and Challenge Mode.
