About this game
South Park: The Stick of Truth is a role-playing game set in the animated series’ town. Create the New Kid and enter a conflict between humans and elves over the titular stick, meeting Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and other familiar faces. Exploration, equipment and errands move the adventure forward. Turn-based fights incorporate timed button presses for defence and special attacks, while clothing, weapon upgrades and a companion shape your choices. Fantasy role-playing meets the show’s crude humour and satire.
Collected in series
South Park’s games adapt the animated show’s abrasive comedy through platforming, role-playing and cooperative action. Familiar faces and ridiculous situations connect adventures whose combat and pacing can be very different.

South Park: The Stick of Truth
Convincing animated comedy and engaging turn-based inputs are weakened by repetition and historical Xbox 360 stability issues.
The Stick of Truth succeeds at making the player feel like a new arrival inside the show. Town exploration, familiar faces and satire reward attention to details, while visuals, audio and scene transitions sustain a convincing identity. Battles do more than wait for turns: timed defence and special attacks keep the player involved, with classes, companions and equipment creating choices. Errands nevertheless repeat, familiar move animations can slow encounters, and the focused adventure offers limited reasons for long-term replay. Xbox 360 stability also matters. The European test records a repeatable boss-order freeze after the day-one patch, while another explicitly identified 360 test reports scrolling skips. Fans interested in a compact comedy RPG have good reasons to engage, but these interruptions undermine an otherwise coherent visit to South Park.
Strengths
- Convincing audiovisual identity
- Timed inputs keep battles participatory
Weaknesses
- Repeated errands and animations
- Historical freezes and scrolling skips
Who it is for: Fans of the show’s satire seeking a focused comedy role-playing adventure.
Play notes: Independent judgment from Ken Barnes’s March 4, 2014 European Xbox 360 test, supplemented by VideoGamer’s explicitly identified 14-hour 360 test. Its current byline and June 5, 2021 update do not prove the original tester or test date. Not our own playtest; model and exact patch number are unspecified. Reported post-day-one-patch freezes are historical observations, without assuming they universally persist or are fixed. Regional cuts are not universal.

| Dimension Town exploration, familiar faces and collectibles reward fans looking for details. The focused length helps momentum, but repeated errands and limited replay variation restrict the appeal beyond a first journey. | Reviewed | 7.1 / 10 | 0.25 |
| Dimension Timed defence and special attacks keep turn-based bouts participatory, with companions, classes and equipment offering choices. Repeated animations can slow encounters, and the tactical variety does not always match the comedy. | Reviewed | 8.1 / 10 | 0.4 |
| Dimension Animation-like visuals, audio and scene transitions make inhabiting the show convincing. Its satire gives the journey identity, although reused jokes and move sequences can become overly familiar. | Reviewed | 8.7 / 10 | 0.2 |
| Dimension The Xbox 360 test identifies timed A-button defence but also a repeatable freeze after the day-one patch when a boss was defeated first. A separate test reports scrolling skips, materially interrupting the adventure. | Reviewed | 5.4 / 10 | 0.15 |
