About this game

Treasure Trove brings together Shovel of Hope, Plague of Shadows, Specter of Torment, King of Cards and Showdown. In Shovel Knight's adventure, you run, jump and fight with a Shovel Blade while searching for his lost beloved. Other campaigns change how you approach movement: Plague Knight launches himself with explosions and customizes bombs, Specter Knight carries a scythe and climbs walls, and King Knight combines shoulder bashes with spinning descents. King of Cards also includes Joustus, where you collect cards and assemble a deck to challenge opponents. Showdown shifts to platform battles and local competition for gems, with practice and target modes available. An aesthetic rooted in 8-bit games connects the collection.

9.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

Best approached as a collection for players who enjoy learning different ways to move.

Explosive propulsion, wall climbing and shoulder bashes suggest distinct movement habits across the adventures. Joustus and Showdown offer other kinds of decisions, so the collection's breadth matters most if you want more than one style of play.

Strengths

  • Different protagonists give movement experimentation a central place in the collection.
  • Card challenges and local gem battles broaden the activities beyond campaign platforming.

Weaknesses

  • Players wanting one consistent move set may find the changes between protagonists require unwanted readjustment.

Who it is for: Platforming fans who enjoy learning character mechanics, with an interest in card tactics or local battles.
