About this game

Guide successive emperors against the Seven Heroes in this 3D remake. Rulers pass power and abilities down the imperial line, while your choices about expansion and major confrontations shape the story. Timeline battles combine techniques learned through Glimmers, formation effects and weakness attacks that build toward party combination attacks. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition shares save data with the Nintendo Switch version, allowing an existing imperial journey to continue between them. Difficulty choices and selectable original or arranged music remain part of the adventure. Owners using the paid upgrade-pass route also need the Nintendo Switch base game; the pass is not a standalone game.

8.2 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

Best aligned with players who enjoy planning a dynasty, including those continuing an existing imperial campaign.

The succession system and flexible scenario can suit players who enjoy treating a campaign as a history they help construct. Save-data sharing gives an established Switch adventure a direct continuation path, while timeline combat retains its emphasis on coordinating the party.

Strengths

  • Inherited abilities can preserve a sense of investment as the throne changes hands.
  • Shared saves can reduce the disruption of continuing an existing campaign in this edition.

Weaknesses

  • An open route and changing emperors may be less appealing to players seeking a tightly prescribed hero's journey.

Who it is for: Players drawn to imperial succession and party tactics, particularly those who already have Switch progress to continue.

Play notes: The paid upgrade pass requires the separately owned Nintendo Switch base game; the pass alone is not playable.
