About this game

Ring Fit Adventure makes exercise the way you travel and fight. Fit Joy-Con controllers into the Ring-Con and leg strap, then jog in place to move through courses in a world threatened by a bodybuilding dragon. Encounters switch to turn-based battles, with physical exercises serving as your attacks. Choosing a movement also means choosing a battle action: fitness skills that match an enemy's colour deal more damage. Defeating enemies and completing courses earns exercise points, raises your character's level and opens up additional skills. Adventure mode also lets you adjust the exercise intensity, so its progression combines a growing selection of actions with a workload setting you can change.

9.0 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who want exercise attached to concrete adventure goals.

Turning movements into attacks gives exercise a purpose within each encounter, while colour matching adds a tactical choice. Character growth could encourage returning to the adventure, particularly if unlocking another movement is more motivating than following a fixed routine.

Strengths

  • Colour matching gives exercise selection a tactical role.
  • Adjustable intensity offers room to tailor the physical workload.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy progression systems and want bodily movement to be part of reaching the next goal.

Play notes: Play uses Joy-Con controllers fitted to the Ring-Con and leg strap; position the strap on the left thigh with Joy-Con (L) facing forward.
