About this game
DOOM 64 sends you through demon-filled levels with firearms, power-ups and your fists. Alongside the fighting, you can look for enhanced weapons and investigate hidden routes. Some levels conceal alternative exits that lead to secret maps, giving exploration a concrete result beyond finding another weapon. This Nintendo Switch rerelease also includes The Lost Levels, a separate campaign with newly added maps. Completing the main game is one way to unlock it. Campaign passwords provide another way to resume progress: a password earned after a level starts you on the next map with the weapons, equipment and statistics you carried out.
Collected in series
DOOM is id Software’s first-person shooter series about fighting demons with powerful weapons. Most entries favor constant movement and quick weapon changes, though DOOM 3 takes a slower, horror-focused approach. Later games make attacking part of survival, turning enemies into sources of health, armor and ammunition.

A promising fit for players who want demon shooting with secrets worth investigating.
Hidden exits can make looking around worthwhile between fights, since discovery leads to additional maps. Players interested in both combat and route finding may get more from that combination than those focused entirely on shooting.
Strengths
- Secret exits give attentive exploration a tangible payoff in additional maps.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy first-person combat and looking beyond a level's obvious route.
Play notes: Completing the main campaign or Hectic unlocks The Lost Levels.
