About this game

Persona 5 Royal follows a Tokyo student who also operates as a Phantom Thief. School life and after-school activities sit alongside infiltrations into Palaces, otherworldly spaces reflecting corrupt people's distorted perceptions. Steal their treasures to make them reform, while deciding which relationships and everyday activities to pursue. Bonds with confidants provide practical benefits for your thief activities. In combat, hitting weaknesses can knock enemies down and produce an additional attack, making the choice of target and attack relevant to maintaining your advantage. Optional requests lead into Mementos, whose layout changes between visits. Royal adds characters and story material to Persona 5, while selectable difficulty and safe rooms offer ways to approach its battles and save your progress.

9.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who want relationships to matter alongside tactical combat choices.

Confidant benefits connect everyday encounters to the heist side, potentially making social investment feel purposeful. Weakness-triggered extra attacks offer a separate decision loop, while school activities and optional dungeon requests ask for interest in more than battles alone.

Strengths

  • Relationship benefits could give character encounters a practical role in progression.
  • Weakness-triggered additional attacks reward attention to combat choices.

Weaknesses

  • Players mainly interested in fighting may find the school-life portions a diversion from their preferred activity.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy character relationships, alternating daily-life activities and dungeon objectives, and choosing attacks around enemy weaknesses.
