About this game
Metroid Dread follows Samus Aran through ZDR's interconnected underground facilities. Fire beams and missiles, counter enemy attacks at the right moment and acquire upgrades that open areas previously out of reach. Abilities such as the Morph Ball let you pass through narrow tunnels, giving familiar parts of the map new possibilities as exploration advances. E.M.M.I. Zones change the rules of an encounter. These pursuing robots cannot be damaged by normal attacks, so navigating their territory involves avoiding detection and escaping pursuit. Phantom Cloak conceals Samus, but moving with it active burns energy faster. Absorbing energy from a Central Unit temporarily enables the Omega Cannon, giving Samus the means to destroy an E.M.M.I.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A fit for explorers who enjoy gaining movement options while adapting to dangerous pursuit.
Upgrades could make revisiting known spaces rewarding by changing which routes are available. E.M.M.I. encounters ask players to switch from ordinary combat to concealment and escape, a contrast likely to appeal more to those who welcome pressure during exploration.
Strengths
- Upgrade-gated routes could give learning the map a continuing purpose as Samus's abilities expand.
- Robots that resist normal attacks could make movement and escape planning matter differently from ordinary fighting.
Weaknesses
- Players seeking uninterrupted, relaxed exploration may find the pursuing robots less compatible with that preference.
Who it is for: Players who like revisiting connected maps, learning action timings and choosing escape routes under threat.
Play notes: Normal weapons do not damage E.M.M.I.; Rookie Mode's reduced boss damage requires the version 2.0.0 update or later.
