About this game
In ASTRAL CHAIN, you patrol the near-future city of the Ark as a member of Neuron. Cases involve questioning people, examining scenes and confronting extradimensional threats with your Legion. Areas visited for the main investigation also contain optional cases to pursue. Combat gives you control over a partnership: concentrate both characters on one target or send them against separate enemies. Move the Legion around a foe to bind it with the connecting chain, then watch for flashes that signal an opportunity for a timed Sync Attack. Defeating chimeras earns Gene Codes for developing your Legion's skills and combat attributes, adding another set of choices alongside positioning and attack timing.

A promising fit for action players who enjoy managing a partner and taking investigative detours.
Chain restraints and timed joint attacks suggest combat built around positioning as well as reactions. Street inquiries and optional cases may make the police role more tangible, while asking combat-focused players to welcome changes of activity.
Strengths
- Separate targeting and chain restraints offer room to plan how the pair handles enemies.
- Optional cases can give exploration a purpose beyond reaching the next main objective.
Weaknesses
- Players seeking uninterrupted combat may find the investigative duties a less appealing part of the structure.
Who it is for: Players interested in coordinated action systems, partner positioning and police investigations.
Play notes: Local cooperative play divides control between the officer and Legion; the two players have different roles.
