About this game
Mega Man 11 follows a cycle of platforming, shooting and Robot Master battles. Defeating a boss adds its weapon to your arsenal, and other bosses have weaknesses to those weapons. Bolts found along the way can buy recovery items and upgrades. The Double Gear system adds another decision to each encounter: use Speed Gear to slow the surrounding action, or Power Gear to strengthen your attacks. Keeping either active too long causes overheating and temporarily removes that option. A right-stick wheel lets you change weapons during play. Newcomer difficulty provides extra protection while learning the stages, while separate challenges ask you to finish quickly or use as few shots as possible.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A fit for action players who enjoy choosing when to gain an advantage as well as learning how to jump and shoot.
Speed and Power Gear can turn difficult situations into timing decisions, because their benefits must be balanced against overheating. Boss weapons add a separate layer of experimentation for players who enjoy finding effective matchups.
Strengths
- Gear activation gives players a tactical response to hazards beyond movement and firing alone.
- Different weapon weaknesses can make each acquired boss weapon worth testing.
Weaknesses
- Players who want uninterrupted use of their strongest abilities may find the cooldown constraint restrictive.
Who it is for: Players interested in learning stage movement, experimenting with boss weapons and revisiting stages under different challenge rules.
Play notes: Newcomer changes the failure conditions: pits and spikes do not cause instant death on that difficulty.
