About this game

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition turns Zelda characters into playable battlefield fighters with distinct weapons and moves. Combine weak and strong attacks, defeat the troops inside an enemy keep, then take down its boss to capture it. Collected rupees and items feed into weapon upgrades and badges that strengthen your warriors. Adventure Mode gives those battles a map-based progression structure, with weapons and characters among its rewards. This edition brings together the earlier Wii U and Nintendo 3DS content and their additions. It also presents My Fairy companions in 3D and supports two players on one system. Between battles, unwanted weapons can be selected and sold together.

Collected in series

The Legend of Zelda is Nintendo’s action-adventure series, which began in 1986. Link’s journeys often bring him together with Princess Zelda and into conflict with Ganon in the land of Hyrule. Exploration, puzzles and combat lie at its heart, with a curious detour often leading to a new discovery.

7.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

A fit for players who want familiar Zelda characters expressed through crowd combat and battlefield objectives.

Keep capture gives the fighting a territorial purpose, while character-specific weapons invite experimentation with different moves. Adventure Mode extends that interest into map progression, making the structure most appealing when unlocking and developing warriors is part of the reward.

Strengths

  • Capturing keeps gives attack combinations a concrete battlefield objective.
  • Distinct weapons and character unlocks offer reasons to explore more than one warrior's moves.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking a different activity between battles may find battle-driven map progression less appealing.

Who it is for: Zelda fans interested in crowd combat, character development and local two-player sessions.

Play notes: The verified multiplayer option is two players sharing one system.
