About this game

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising follows an action adventure around New Nevaeh, a town rebuilding after an earthquake. You explore dungeons, cross platforms and fight with a group of three characters. CJ strikes with climbing axes, Garoo uses a gigantic sword, and Isha casts magic from a distance. Switching characters connects their different specialties through Link Attacks. Dungeon exploration also provides materials for reconstructing the town. Progress therefore includes both overcoming obstacles outside New Nevaeh and contributing to its recovery with what you collect. Rising is an action RPG prequel to Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, telling its own part of that world through this combination of combat, exploration and town development.

7.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

An action-and-rebuilding loop for players who want dungeon expeditions to serve a hometown goal.

Contrasting attack styles and Link Attacks can make choosing the next character a meaningful attraction for action-minded players. Gathering reconstruction materials gives those expeditions another purpose for anyone who enjoys contributing to a town's recovery.

Strengths

  • Close-range axes, a giant sword and ranged magic offer distinct roles to combine through character switching.
  • Materials collected in dungeons connect exploration to a specific reconstruction goal.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy switching combat roles and want resource collection to contribute to rebuilding a town.

Play notes: Town reconstruction is part of the intended activity alongside combat, so that goal should be part of the appeal rather than treated as incidental.
