About this game
Before the events of the original Darksiders, War and Strife investigate Lucifer's efforts to empower demon masters and disrupt the Balance. You guide the horsemen through a top-down action adventure, using Strife's ranged attacks and War's melee fighting to confront enemies. In solo play, you can switch between the two during the action; cooperative play lets a partner join the adventure. Character development accompanies the fighting. Collect items, abilities and weapon enhancements to grow stronger, and use Creature Cores drawn from defeated enemies to customize upgrades. The recurring decisions concern which horseman's attack style to use and how to develop their capabilities as the campaign follows the pair's assignment through the world of Darksiders.
Collected in series
Darksiders follows the Horsemen through a ruined world caught between Heaven and Hell. Its adventures mix supernatural combat with exploration and character growth, while different entries give each rider a different way to fight.

A promising fit for players who enjoy contrasting combat styles and developing a fighting partnership.
Switching between ranged and melee specialists can make character choice an ongoing combat decision. Creature Cores add a separate avenue for shaping upgrades, while cooperative play should appeal to players who want to share the horsemen's campaign.
Strengths
- Distinct ranged and melee roles give solo switching and cooperative character choice a concrete purpose.
- Enemy-linked Creature Cores connect fighting to decisions about character development.
Who it is for: Players interested in top-down action, alternating combat roles and customizing upgrades, alone or with a cooperative partner.
Play notes: Each player needs a compatible controller for multiplayer.
