About this game
Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and collection and development goals. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Darksiders follows the Horsemen through a ruined world caught between Heaven and Hell. Its adventures mix supernatural combat with exploration and character growth, while different entries give each rider a different way to fight.

PlayStation 5AI review

Strong dungeons and agile combat survive an imperfect refresh.
Darksiders II combines Death agile moves, equipment growth and environmental puzzles effectively. New abilities vary combat, exploration supplies useful loot, and puzzle sequences prevent progress from becoming a constant succession of fights. Exaggerated fantasy landscapes retain a clear visual identity, while the included additional chapters give its systems more room. Story and supporting characters are less distinctive than the protagonist and dungeons, and camera friction remains during traversal. The native PS5 review reports mostly steady 60fps, with tearing and busy-combat hiccups preventing a flawless result. Newcomers have more to gain from the complete journey than returning players expecting substantially redesigned content. The strongest reward remains learning how its traversal tools open each new dungeon rather than chasing technical novelty.
Strengths
- Combat growth and environmental puzzles complement each other.
- Exploration supplies useful equipment and striking locations.
Weaknesses
- Narrative connections and traversal camera behaviour are less accomplished.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy dungeon puzzles and equipment-driven action.
Play notes: Switch evidence is from 2019; native PS5 evidence is from 2024. Older PS4 specifications are excluded.
