About this game
Crysis 2 is a PlayStation 3 shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, aiming and shooting, and positioning and evasion. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Crysis is a science-fiction shooter series built around a Nanosuit that changes how you approach a firefight. From tropical islands to a devastated New York, cloaking, enhanced protection and customizable weapons let you alternate between stalking enemies and confronting them head-on.

PlayStation 3AI review

Flexible urban suit combat with platform and pacing limits.
Crysis 2 moves nanosuit combat into an invaded New York. Armor and cloak let a player cross rooftops, streets and interiors by flanking, ambushing or assaulting a position. Weighty weapons and the city under siege give these encounters urgency. The campaign remains more directed than the first game’s island, however. Obvious tactical prompts and occasional weak enemy reactions reduce the pleasure of discovering an approach unaided. Its lengthy sequence of distinct urban spaces offers plenty to see without preserving the original’s widest sandbox freedom. A direct PS3 launch account reports repeated crashes, and a contemporary console comparison shows that performance varies with scene load. The spectacle is still striking, yet reliability can break an otherwise tense firefight. This entry concerns the original 2011 ps3 edition. It does not import the other platforms, later graphics patches or the 2021 remaster. Multiplayer belongs to the historical launch package; present service availability has not been verified, so this review does not promise online matches today. Players who enjoy finding stealth routes through a cinematic shooter should find much to appreciate. Anyone expecting the first game’s broad island freedom or perfectly steady technical behavior should note these boundaries.
Strengths
- Cloak, armor, varied routes and a vivid ruined city.
Weaknesses
- Obvious tactical prompts; reported PS3 launch crashes.
Who it is for: Players seeking nanosuit tactics in a cinematic city.
Play notes: Launch multiplayer does not establish present service availability.
