About this game
Crypt of the NecroDancer combines dungeon exploration with movement on the musical beat. Navigate a randomly generated dungeon and battle creatures such as skeletons, zombies and dragons while following a soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky. The layout and item placement change between plays, so the route through the dungeon is not fixed. You can explore alone or team up for two-player local co-op in the base game. Online multiplayer and local co-op for up to four players require the separately purchased SYNCHRONY DLC. On Switch, touchscreen input works for navigating menus, but cannot be used to play the dungeon itself.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
For players who want dungeon decisions tied to a musical pulse.
Beat-based movement asks players to consider where to go and when to move together. Changing layouts and item placement could keep route reading relevant for people who enjoy adapting rather than memorizing one fixed course.
Strengths
- The beat gives music a direct role in dungeon navigation.
- Changing dungeon arrangements can reward attention to the current route.
Weaknesses
- Players who prefer to consider every movement at their own pace may find beat-based navigation demanding.
Who it is for: Players interested in combining rhythmic timing with adapting to changing dungeon layouts.
Play notes: Online multiplayer and local co-op for up to four players require the separately purchased SYNCHRONY DLC.
