About this game
Cassette Beasts puts you on New Wirral with a simple objective: find a way home. You explore the island, record monsters onto tapes and play those recordings to transform for turn-based combat. Your collection also changes exploration, because certain abilities work in human form, letting you glide, swim or climb through the environment and solve puzzles. Battles revolve around more than choosing a monster form. You can fuse with a companion, and developing that relationship improves your ability to combine forces. Elemental interactions can add helpful or harmful effects and even change an opponent's type. These systems connect exploration, companion relationships and battle decisions; a second local player can also join the journey on the same console.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
An appealing design for collectors who enjoy experimenting with combinations and exploring with new abilities.
Recording gives each monster a potential role in both your battle options and your movement across the island. Fusion and elemental reactions should particularly interest players who like reconsidering combinations instead of settling on a single familiar team.
Strengths
- Monster abilities connect collecting with practical exploration, giving new forms a purpose beyond combat.
- Fusion and changing elemental states provide premises for experimenting with how a team works together.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy turn-based team building, ability-led exploration and developing relationships with traveling companions.
