About this game

Race licensed real-world cars through the original Switch version's single-player campaign. Drifts, spins, nitro boosts and takedowns are part of its arcade driving. Drifting and stunt maneuvers refill nitro, creating a recurring choice between building the resource and spending it on acceleration. With TouchDrive, the car follows a racing line while you choose its route. Away from campaign progression, Quick Race offers track practice and personal-time challenges. Local split-screen racing brings competitors onto the same console. Both of these Switch modes were documented with offline options. The original release also offers gyroscopic motion controls as another way to drive.

7.1 / 10Nintendo Switch

Likely to suit players who value stunt-driven arcade decisions and local races over detailed steering in TouchDrive.

Refilling nitro through drifts and stunts can make showy maneuvers serve a practical racing purpose. Quick Race and offline split-screen offer alternatives for players who would rather practice a track or race locally than follow campaign progression.

Strengths

  • Stunts that replenish nitro can connect spectacle with a useful resource decision.
  • Offline Quick Race and local split-screen can support practice and shared-console competition.

Weaknesses

  • Players who want to direct every steering movement may find TouchDrive's guided racing line restrictive.

Who it is for: Players drawn to licensed cars, exaggerated driving maneuvers and same-console racing, especially if route selection appeals more than constant steering.

Play notes: Gameloft specified different Switch driving behavior for the Unite transition; original Asphalt 9 handling should not be assumed to carry over unchanged after that update.
