About this game

Kirby's Dream Buffet turns a meal into a rolling competition. In a Gourmet Grand Prix, you race, scramble for strawberries in a minigame, race again and finish with a Battle Royale. Eating strawberries makes Kirby bigger and faster during races. In the final battle, knocking rivals off the stage lets you take their fruit, and the largest Kirby wins. Copy Food abilities transform Kirby into food-themed forms that help gather strawberries or send opponents flying. Beyond an individual contest, eating strawberries raises Gourmet Rank to unlock stages and rewards. Two people can play on one system in TV or tabletop mode; larger groups use local wireless or online play with separate systems.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A fit for playful competition where collecting fruit matters as much as getting ahead.

Strawberries link movement, size and victory, giving races a purpose beyond reaching the finish. The final fruit-stealing battle could create welcome reversals for party players, but less welcome swings for those who prefer protecting an early lead.

Strengths

  • One visible resource connects racing, growth and the final result.
  • Food transformations make abilities part of the edible setting.

Weaknesses

  • Losing strawberries in the final battle may frustrate players who want race performance to remain decisive.

Who it is for: Groups that enjoy lighthearted rivalry and opportunities to overturn a lead.

Play notes: One system supports at most two players in TV or tabletop mode. Local wireless needs a system and copy per player; online play also requires Nintendo Switch Online and allows one player per system.

The two-player same-system option is convenient for a pair, but larger groups must plan around separate hardware.
