About this game
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a PC role-playing game centered on area exploration, combat and party setup, and character progression. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Like a Dragon, formerly known in English as Yakuza, follows people trying to hold on to loyalty and dignity amid crime and betrayal. Dense city districts invite you to step away from serious drama for games and eccentric side stories. Some entries use direct-action brawling, while Ichiban Kasuga’s adventures bring a party into turn-based combat.

A vivid Yokohama cast with configuration-dependent PC delivery.
On Windows PC, Yakuza: Like a Dragon still rests on Ichiban’s friendships and the streets of Yokohama. Party jobs, skills and environmental attacks give familiar city encounters a different strategic shape. Side businesses and bizarre diversions make the long journey breathe, while a late difficulty gate may push players away from the story to gain levels. The range between sincere drama and absurd comedy is the main reason to stay with its characters. The PC edition offers adjustable presentation, but historical technical testing shows results depend on hardware, resolution and settings; one measured machine cannot stand in for every computer. This suits players who want a substantial character-led RPG and enjoy building a team. Those who dislike repeated battles or configuration choices should account for those costs. The review covers the 2020 Windows release, not the later native PS5 upgrade.
Strengths
- Relationships and jobs make the series change convincing.
Weaknesses
- Late grinding and hardware-dependent performance remain costs.
Who it is for: PC role-playing fans ready for a long story and party building.
Play notes: Historical Windows release; performance is limited to tested configurations.
