About this game
Set in the entertainment districts of 1988 Tokyo and Osaka, Yakuza 0 Director's Cut follows Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima through a crime drama. Each protagonist has three switchable fighting styles. Kiryu can swing nearby objects or enemies, while Majima can turn breakdancing movements into attacks. Spend in-game money to unlock further abilities as you develop their fighting options. Away from combat, activities such as disco dancing and karaoke provide other ways to spend time in the districts. This edition adds previously absent scenes involving important characters and includes Red Light Raid, a separate online mode built around cooperative battle challenges. Online play requires an internet connection, a Nintendo Account and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Collected in series
Like a Dragon, formerly known in English as Yakuza, follows people trying to hold on to loyalty and dignity amid crime and betrayal. Dense city districts invite you to step away from serious drama for games and eccentric side stories. Some entries use direct-action brawling, while Ichiban Kasuga’s adventures bring a party into turn-based combat.

Nintendo Switch 2AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A strong conceptual fit for players who want a crime story with contrasting combat styles and urban diversions.
Switchable styles could make experimenting with Kiryu and Majima as interesting as simply winning fights. Optional nightlife activities offer room to choose when to step away from combat, while the added scenes give returning players new story material to consider.
Strengths
- Object-swinging and dance-based attacks suggest meaningfully different combat approaches to explore.
- Optional city activities could let players alternate between fighting and lighter diversions on their own terms.
Who it is for: Players interested in character-led crime drama who also enjoy experimenting with brawling styles and side activities.
Play notes: Red Light Raid requires online access, a Nintendo Account and paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.
