About this game

In Azuma, giant beasts embody the natural forces of a Japanese-inspired wilderness. You confront them with weapons such as a bow, nodachi or bladed wagasa, and construct Karakuri during the hunt. Crates and gliders provide practical tools for movement, while combinations of basic devices produce shields, blades and traps for combat. Some constructions stay in the field, letting you shape the hunting grounds through their placement. Materials gathered from hunts become new equipment for the next encounter, linking weapon choices and preparation to an ongoing cycle of hunting and crafting. Seasonal scenery frames the expeditions. WILD HEARTS S also supports groups of up to four hunters through online or local wireless play.

7.4 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

A promising fit for hunters who want construction decisions alongside weapon combat.

Building defenses and traps during a hunt could make improvisation as important to your enjoyment as weapon choice. The equipment loop gives materials a clear purpose, especially if preparing for another hunt is part of the appeal.

Strengths

  • Persistent constructions could make planning the hunting grounds satisfying in its own right.
  • Distinct weapon types offer concrete reasons to experiment with different combat approaches.

Weaknesses

  • The hunt-and-craft cycle may feel repetitive if equipment building is not a motivation.

Who it is for: Players interested in combining action, battlefield preparation and cooperative hunts.

Play notes: Online play requires paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, and cross-platform multiplayer is unavailable.

Local wireless and online grouping offer different ways to assemble a party, but the membership requirement and lack of cross-platform play constrain online arrangements.
