About this game

DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS begins with an amnesiac martial artist traveling through the late Eastern Han's turmoil. In battle, attacks build Bravery for weapon-specific Arts, while a precisely timed guard opens an enemy to counterattack. Alongside those personal exchanges, you issue tactical orders to nearby allies and raise morale by defeating officers or capturing bases. The world map connects the story with historical battles, missions and smaller skirmishes. Developing proficiency with different weapons raises the protagonist's rank and abilities, linking growth to the weapons you learn to use. Large armies coordinate their attacks, so the battlefield combines your own combat decisions with the actions of surrounding forces.

8.6 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

Well suited in concept to players who want battlefield decisions alongside personal combat technique.

Arts and timed parries could make officer encounters appealing to players who enjoy learning combat responses. Allied commands and morale add a broader layer, giving your choice of targets significance beyond the immediate exchange.

Strengths

  • Personal combat and allied tactics give attention to both the opponent and the surrounding battle.
  • Weapon proficiency gives experimentation a direct connection to character growth.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking undemanding crowd-clearing may find the combination of timing and battlefield decisions less aligned with that preference.

Who it is for: Action players who enjoy learning defensive timing while also managing priorities across a battle.

Play notes: This overview covers the base game; Visions of Four Heroes is separate downloadable content.
