Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a side-scrolling beat ’em up. Bebop and Rocksteady attack Channel 6 to steal equipment for Krang and Shredder’s plan, sending the Turtles and their allies into pursuit across familiar locations, from Manhattan and Coney Island to Dimension X. Characters have their own abilities and moves, used through successive encounters with enemy groups. Pixel artwork draws on the 1987 cartoon’s characters, scenery and props, with music accompanying the fighting. Multiple players can participate together. Later additional characters require the corresponding expansion content, so the available roster depends on the edition and additions purchased.
