About this game

The central battle is about sending opponents off the stage. Attacks build damage, which makes later launches send a fighter farther; being knocked away also leaves you a chance to return and keep fighting. Smash mode lets you choose stages and rules, and the roster brings back fighters from earlier entries in the series. Beyond those battles, Classic Mode pits a chosen fighter against increasingly difficult enemies, while Training can show launch distances. The single-player Adventure Mode involves saving fighters and spirits through battles. Primary spirits strengthen physical abilities, and support spirits add skills through available slots. Different spirit-battle conditions make equipment selection another decision alongside the action on stage.

9.4 / 10Nintendo Switch

For players who enjoy positioning, recovery and tailoring a battle to their preferences.

Damage affects launch distance, so stage position and the ability to return can matter alongside landing attacks. Configurable battles and hazard-specific spirit choices offer different kinds of decision-making, depending on whether you prefer direct contests or equipment-led encounters.

Strengths

  • Launching and recovery can make the edge of the stage a meaningful tactical space.
  • Stage and rule selection lets a group shape the battle around its preferred conditions.

Who it is for: Players interested in platform-based fighting, customized matches or adapting spirit equipment to encounter conditions.

Play notes: Online play requires Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account.
