About this game
Streets of Rage 4 centres on close-range fighting: watch enemies, avoid their attacks and answer with punches, kicks and throws. Combining normal attacks with special techniques and super moves extends your combos. Axel, Blaze and Adam join Cherry and Floyd among the main fighters, while unlockable pixel-art characters bring earlier versions of the cast into the game. Story, Arcade and Battle modes give the fighting different structures, and local cooperation lets friends take on the streets together. Hand-drawn animation is paired with an electronic dance-influenced soundtrack. An in-depth training system is available through a free update for players who want to work on their techniques; Survival is separate content in the paid Mr. X Nightmare expansion.
Collected in series
Streets of Rage turns city streets into side-scrolling brawls. Fighters use punches, throws and their own signature moves to push through groups of enemies, with electronic music giving the action its distinctive pulse.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A focused choice for players who enjoy building combos and coordinating close-range fights with friends.
Combining different attack types should give players who like refining techniques more to pursue than repeating one move. Local cooperation adds a shared approach to those fights, while the training system provides a separate place to work on the combat.
Strengths
- Mixed-attack combos offer a concrete skill to develop through experimentation.
- Local cooperation creates room to coordinate attacks with friends.
Who it is for: Players interested in side-scrolling brawlers, learning attack combinations and sharing local arcade-style sessions.
Play notes: Survival mode requires the separately sold Mr. X Nightmare DLC.
