About this game
SONIC FORCES follows a resistance trying to take the world back from Eggman's army. You clear stages with a character assigned to each one: Modern Sonic tackles high-speed 3D action, Classic Sonic handles side-scrolling challenges, and the Avatar brings weapons called Wispons into the adventure. The Avatar is also a character you customize, choosing its appearance and clothing rather than only controlling an established hero. Some stages bring Sonic and the Avatar together as a pair. Progress therefore moves between distinct character styles and their shared stages, while remaining a single-player adventure. The changing playable roles are central to how the campaign presents its fight against Eggman's forces.
Collected in series
Sonic the Hedgehog is SEGA’s action franchise starring its speedy blue hero. Running, jumping and learning the terrain connect adventures that range from side-scrolling courses to 3D stages and open islands, with different entries giving speed and exploration their own balance.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Likely to suit players who want a Sonic adventure built around changing character styles and a personal Avatar.
Moving between Sonic's 3D action, Classic Sonic's side-scrolling stages and the Avatar's weapons could provide variety through changing roles. Avatar customization may make the resistance story feel more personal, though the stage assignments mean committing to that mixture.
Strengths
- The Avatar offers a personal stake in the adventure through appearance and clothing choices.
- Distinct character styles could give successive stages different action priorities.
Weaknesses
- Players interested in only one style may find the assigned character changes an unwanted interruption.
Who it is for: Sonic fans interested in both side-scrolling and 3D action, especially those who want to create a character of their own.
Play notes: Approach Sonic and the Avatar's tag stages as part of a solo game, rather than as an invitation for a second player.
