About this game
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition combines a stage-based platform adventure with additional playable perspectives. As Shantae, attack enemies with a hair whip and use belly-dance transformations to gain different movement abilities. Those forms also give you reasons to return to earlier stages, where newly acquired abilities reveal further items and secrets. Hand-drawn characters appear against 2.5D backdrops. The package includes the base adventure, Pirate Queen's Quest, Friends to the End and the Costume Pack. Take control of Risky Boots in her own adventure, or switch between Sky, Bolo and Rottytops in Friends to the End. The different playable characters and costume modes sit alongside Shantae's transformation-led exploration rather than replacing the original campaign.
Collected in series
Shantae is WayForward's colorful platform-adventure series starring a half-genie heroine who fights with her hair. Jump through hazards, explore labyrinths and gain abilities that open new routes. Many entries use dance transformations, while Pirate's Curse trades those powers for versatile pirate equipment.

A good fit for platforming fans who enjoy revisiting places with new abilities.
Transformations can turn familiar stages into opportunities to notice previously unreachable rewards. The included character adventures offer a different appeal: experimenting with who you control as well as where you go.
Strengths
- Ability-based revisits can make discoveries feel connected to Shantae's growing move set.
- Risky Boots and the switchable friends give the package distinct playable perspectives.
Weaknesses
- Returning to earlier stages may interrupt the momentum for players who mainly want a succession of new locations.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy exploration within action stages and trying alternative characters.
