About this game

Enter the kingdom with an heir whose traits shape the attempt, then face changing layouts, monsters and traps. Combat options depend on your character: the Ranger, for example, can shoot poisoned arrows from an ivy canopy. Choosing an heir also involves a reward tradeoff, because more debilitating traits offer more gold. Death ends that character's journey, but a child succeeds them and the family's progress continues. Spend inherited wealth to expand the manor with persistent upgrades, and find heirlooms that permanently grant new abilities. Relics provide a different kind of development by changing attributes or abilities within a run; those relics disappear when the hero dies. This separates what you build for the family from what you risk on the current attempt. House Rules also offers a contact-damage toggle, giving you a specific way to adjust the rules of play.

8.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A fit for players who enjoy changing characters while building a lasting foundation.

The heir system could make death feel like a change of approach rather than the end of all progress. Manor upgrades and heirlooms provide lasting development, but relic loss keeps the current attempt at risk. Trait-based gold rewards may particularly appeal to players who like accepting a handicap for a larger return.

Strengths

  • Persistent manor growth and heirloom abilities could give repeated attempts a longer-term purpose.
  • Higher gold rewards for debilitating traits may make unusual heirs attractive to players who enjoy risk-and-reward decisions.

Weaknesses

  • Players who want to retain one character and their complete build may find succession and relic loss an unwelcome interruption.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy adapting to randomized layouts, trying different heirs and combining temporary builds with permanent development.

Play notes: Manor upgrades and heirloom abilities persist, but the current hero's relics are lost on death.

3D characters and hand-drawn backgrounds form the visual approach. That combination may appeal to players who prefer illustrated environments around animated characters, without establishing visual clarity or performance.

House Rules includes a contact-damage toggle, offering a concrete adjustment for players who want to change the cost of touching enemies. It does not establish the game's frame rate or technical stability.
