About this game

As the colony's administrator, you lay tracks and send freight trains between resource sources and industries to restore production. Factories depend on their inputs and outputs, so a connected railway must also deliver the cargo needed to keep the chain working. Choose engines and freight types to match the route; an engine designed to pull loads uphill brings a different speed tradeoff. Terrain adds another set of choices. Build across several height levels, take a longer route through a valley or invest in a direct bridge. Campaign missions award tokens for unlocking industries, upgrades and options. Between adjustments to the network, cinematic view mode lets you watch the trains that serve it.

7.5 / 10Nintendo Switch

Railway construction for players who enjoy making a production system work.

Height, route cost and engine capability can make a railway's layout an operational choice rather than decoration alone. Linked factory inputs and outputs then give you reasons to revisit a working network and refine how it carries resources.

Strengths

  • Route cost and hill-pulling tradeoffs give different track and engine choices a concrete purpose.
  • Interdependent factory chains can make network adjustments satisfying for players who enjoy optimization.

Weaknesses

  • Balancing several factories in a long chain may feel fussy if your main interest is simply laying out attractive tracks.

Who it is for: Players drawn to freight logistics, terrain-aware construction and diagnosing supply-chain bottlenecks.

Play notes: The engine-list usability assessment assumes Update 3, version 4.7.42.1, is installed.

Freshly painted engines against worn factories, viewed through the cinematic camera, can make a functioning network appealing to watch as well as manage.
