About this game

As a new Rescue Corps recruit, you search an unfamiliar planet for stranded travellers. Direct Pikmin to haul objects back to the ship, and use Ice Pikmin to freeze water into a crossing. Oatchi can carry you and your squad, and training teaches him additional skills. Recovering treasure supplies the energy needed to expand the search. Each daytime expedition ends with a return to the ship before sunset, making the order of your tasks important. Timed Dandori challenges put efficient collecting into a more concentrated format. If a plan goes wrong, Rewind Time lets you revisit an earlier moment and try another approach. Story co-op also lets a second player provide pointer-based support with pebbles and items.

9.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who enjoy turning small squad assignments into an efficient rescue plan.

Freezing a crossing and moving the squad on Oatchi can make route planning as important as collecting treasure. The daily return and timed challenges should especially appeal to players who enjoy refining an order of operations, with rewinding offering room to revise mistakes.

Strengths

  • Ice crossings and Oatchi's transport give players concrete tools for rethinking a collection route.
  • Rewinding can make an unsuccessful plan a useful starting point for another attempt.

Weaknesses

  • The daily return requirement may interrupt the flow for players who prefer uninterrupted collecting.

Who it is for: Players who like directing helpers, planning routes and improving how efficiently they complete tasks.

Play notes: Story co-op gives the second player a support pointer, rather than an independently controlled exploration squad.
