About this game

Overcooked! 2 puts you and your fellow chefs in charge of completing customer orders and serving as many dishes as possible before diners lose patience. Cooperation concerns both cooking and getting ingredients where they need to be: you can throw food across the room, navigate moving platforms and use teleporters while the kitchen changes around you. The journey moves between kitchens on an overworld map, taking the team through settings such as sushi restaurants, magic schools and mines. Each new working space makes its layout part of the task, alongside the orders themselves. Both editions support local and online multiplayer with up to four chefs. The central loop is to organize the team's work, adapt to the environment and keep dishes reaching customers.

8.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

Cooperative cooking for groups who like solving coordination problems together.

Throwing ingredients turns distance between chefs into something the team can actively manage. Changing kitchen layouts can then put the emphasis on adapting the plan, which suits groups willing to communicate and rearrange their roles.

Strengths

  • Ingredient throwing gives cooperation a practical spatial element beyond working side by side.
  • Changing kitchens can encourage teams to revise their working plan as conditions change.

Weaknesses

  • Players who prefer a predictable workspace may find repeated adjustments less relaxing.

Who it is for: Friends who enjoy dividing a shared job and reacting together when routes or kitchen layouts change.

Play notes: The original Switch release also supports online sessions with Switch 2 Edition players.
