About this game

You begin as a novice astronaut with a ship and a solar system to investigate. Fly between planets, follow mysterious signals and decipher ancient alien writing to collect information. Your discoveries update the ship log, giving you a record to consult as you pursue the mysteries of the loop. Where you go is only part of the decision: locations change with passing time, and an underground city can disappear beneath sand. Exploration therefore involves observing how a place changes as well as finding it. Archaeologist Edition combines this journey with Echoes of the Eye, an additional investigation prompted by an unexplained anomaly detected by the space program.

9.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for explorers who enjoy turning observations into their next destination.

Signal tracking and the ship log can make curiosity a useful way to organize exploration. The loop and changing locations also make timing relevant, which may appeal more to patient investigators than to players seeking unrestricted sightseeing.

Strengths

  • Recorded discoveries can give self-directed exploration a concrete trail to follow.
  • Changing locations can turn a return visit into a chance to investigate a different situation.

Weaknesses

  • Players who dislike revisiting places under changing time conditions may find the loop restrictive.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy environmental mysteries, following clues and deciding where to investigate next.

Play notes: If the slide-reel interface gets stuck while button prompts are disabled, developer support recommends enabling them.
