About this game
Onimusha: Warlords follows Samanosuke and Kaede into the demon-infested Inabayama Castle to rescue Princess Yuki. Sword fighting and puzzle solving carry the adventure forward. In combat, attacking just before an enemy's blow connects can trigger an Issen counter, while weapon-specific special attacks spend magical power. Samanosuke's gauntlet also absorbs the souls of defeated enemies to strengthen his weapons, connecting victories to further development of his arsenal. This return to the original game includes new Japanese voice recordings and a new soundtrack. Alongside the original controls, the Switch version offers movement in the direction of the left stick, and Easy difficulty is available from the beginning.
Collected in series
Onimusha turns Japanese historical settings into supernatural action adventures. Warriors wield Oni powers against the demonic Genma, combining sword combat with exploration and the collection of souls that strengthen their weapons.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A fitting prospect for players who enjoy precise counters alongside puzzle-led adventure.
The counter timing and magic cost give different considerations to ordinary attacks and special moves. Soul-based upgrades can make successful fights feel connected to the broader rescue journey.
Strengths
- Counters and resource-consuming specials offer different reasons to watch an enemy's attack.
- Combat-earned souls give weapon development a direct connection to defeating demons.
Who it is for: Players interested in samurai fantasy who welcome puzzles between sword fights.
