About this game

Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit starts with construction: follow the software's interactive instructions to assemble cardboard Toy-Con, then use those creations in their matching activities. Pull the Blaster's grip to load a shot, rotate the Camera's lens to zoom for a photography assignment, or move blocks with the Elephant to guide a ball to its goal. The full kit contains six Toy-Con projects. Making things continues inside the software. Toy-Con Garage VR lets you connect commands to create games, while the included VR Plaza examples can be opened up and modified. The goggles are held in your hands, so using the physical creations remains part of the activity.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising fit for players who want making the controller to be part of playing.

The connection between a cardboard mechanism and its onscreen action could make experimentation as rewarding as completing an activity. Garage VR gives curious builders a further direction by letting them change the rules of supplied examples.

Strengths

  • Physical actions such as loading the Blaster give construction a concrete purpose during play.
  • Editable examples offer a useful starting point for players interested in inventing their own games.

Weaknesses

  • The assembly stage may feel like an obstacle if you mainly want to start a ready-made game immediately.

Who it is for: Hands-on makers who enjoy both following a construction project and exploring how interactive rules work.

Play notes: The kit is incompatible with Switch Lite and Switch 2. VR-mode age guidance differs by region: seven and above in Japan, eight and above in Hong Kong. Hold the goggles by hand; do not strap them to your head.
