About this game

Luigi searches the Last Resort hotel for his missing friends, working through its differently themed floors. Flash the Strobulb to stun a ghost, catch it with the vacuum, and slam it onto the ground. The same equipment helps investigate rooms: attach a Suction Shot to an object and pull its rope, or reveal invisible objects with the Dark-Light. Gooigi changes how you tackle obstacles. His soft body passes through iron bars and dangerous traps, but water makes him dissolve. Switch between the two characters in solo play, or share their roles in local story co-op. Completed floors remain available for further treasure hunting.

9.0 / 10Nintendo Switch

A good fit for players who enjoy inspecting rooms and using tools to solve problems alongside ghost-catching action.

The vacuum’s combat and object-manipulation functions suggest an adventure built around trying things on suspicious surroundings. Gooigi adds a separate question: which character can reach the next obstacle? Players who enjoy this kind of spatial problem-solving may appreciate the opportunity to revisit floors for treasure.

Strengths

  • Using the same equipment for ghosts and furniture can make exploration and combat feel connected.
  • Distinct Luigi and Gooigi abilities give local partners a concrete reason to coordinate.

Weaknesses

  • Gooigi’s vulnerability to water can interrupt exploration for players who prefer to keep using one character.

Who it is for: Players who like environmental puzzles, searching rooms for hidden objects, or cooperating through complementary character roles.

Play notes: Story co-op divides control between Luigi and Gooigi; Gooigi still dissolves in water.

Stunning and capturing ghosts sits alongside pulling furniture and revealing hidden objects. That combination may suit players who like experimenting with equipment as much as reacting to enemies.

A haunted hotel with changing floor themes gives Luigi’s rescue mission a concrete setting. Players drawn to exploring unusual interiors may find that premise especially appealing.

A Right Stick press switches characters in solo play, and local story co-op separates their controls. These arrangements offer different ways to manage puzzles that depend on both characters.
