About this game

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series brings together Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil. You run and jump through side-scrolling stages, using Klonoa's ring to capture enemies with wind bullets. A captured enemy has more than one purpose: throw it at another foe or use it as a foothold to jump again. Progress depends on putting those actions to work as you move through the stages. The collection retains the games' underlying worlds and gameplay while updating their graphics. Difficulty settings can be adjusted, and an offline assist mode provides cooperative help. These additions accompany the same central loop of movement, enemy capture and deciding how to use what you are holding.

7.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

A platforming collection for players who enjoy giving captured enemies a second purpose.

Using the same captured foe for an attack or a double jump can turn enemy placement into a movement decision. The paired adventures and adjustable difficulty may suit players who want to explore this recurring mechanic across separate stories.

Strengths

  • Enemy capture connects combat and traversal through a concrete choice of uses.
  • Adjustable difficulty offers a way to approach the stages at a preferred challenge level.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy stage-based platforming, double-jump decisions and experimenting with a small set of reusable actions.

Play notes: The cooperative option is an offline assist mode.
