About this game
Grounded turns a backyard into a survival expedition for characters reduced to the size of ants. Craft weapons, tools and armor, build a shelter, and explore places such as the pond, termite tunnels and sandbox. The story follows the mystery of your shrinking and the search for a way home. Equipment upgrades and mutations let you adjust your character's capabilities for the dangers ahead. Your base is not beyond those dangers: disturbing creatures increases the chance of retaliation. You can face the yard alone or cooperate online, while Shared Worlds let a group continue its shared save even when the original host is away. Cross-platform play and Shared Worlds on Switch require the relevant account and online subscription.

AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A compelling premise for builders who also want their home to matter in survival decisions.
Crafting and defensive building could turn each expedition into preparation for the next risk. Shared Worlds may help a cooperative group keep its project moving without always coordinating around the original host.
Strengths
- Equipment choices and base defense may give exploration a practical purpose.
- Shared saves can suit friends whose available play times do not always overlap.
Weaknesses
- Creature retaliation may frustrate players who mainly want undisturbed building.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy crafting, preparing defenses and gradually investigating a survival setting.
Play notes: Switch cross-play and Shared Worlds require a Microsoft/Xbox account and Nintendo Switch Online. Obsidian recommends a non-Switch host for mixed-platform groups.
