About this game
This HD version of the first Resident Evil remake follows Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine through the Spencer mansion. Choose a protagonist and search for a way out while surviving the creatures inside. Resources are limited, so deciding what to spend is part of the escape. Defeating a zombie does not always remove the threat: it can mutate into a Crimson Head. That rule makes a fallen enemy's possible return relevant to survival decisions. The remaster also reworks background and character detail while retaining the mansion-based survival setup.
Collected in series
Resident Evil follows people trying to survive biological disasters, combining dangerous exploration, puzzles and encounters with hostile creatures. Each game finds a different balance between fear and action, with fixed, over-the-shoulder and first-person perspectives changing how you face the danger.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Likely to suit players who want escape-focused horror built around caution and uncertain enemy safety.
Limited resources can make survival depend on restraint as well as overcoming a threat. Zombies that may return as Crimson Heads can complicate the feeling that a defeated enemy has made an area safe.
Strengths
- Resource limits can give individual survival decisions significance beyond simply defeating enemies.
- Crimson Head transformations can preserve uncertainty after an apparent victory.
Weaknesses
- Players seeking unrestricted fighting may find the need to conserve resources constraining.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy a confined horror setting and weighing resource use against the possibility of renewed danger.
Play notes: This is a single-player game, and its Switch controls do not include gyro input.
