About this game

Core Keeper begins underground, where exploration also supplies the materials for your next expedition. Craft a pickaxe to break through cave walls, gather resources for equipment and build a base. Bridges carry you across subterranean lakes, while placed torches illuminate the ground ahead. Extending a route and improving your surroundings are part of the same mining sandbox. Beyond digging, you can grow crops, catch fish and combine ingredients in a cooking pot to discover recipes with different effects. The caves also contain giant creatures whose spoils help unravel the ancient Core's mystery. Progress brings together practical preparation, construction and combat within a procedurally generated world.

8.5 / 10Nintendo Switch

Hands-on underground exploration for players who like building their own way forward.

Resources serve both equipment and base construction, so an expedition may generate its next practical objective. Farming, cooking and giant-creature encounters provide different kinds of preparation and action to pursue.

Strengths

  • Mining and equipment crafting can give resource gathering a clear exploratory purpose.
  • Building bridges can turn construction into a direct answer to a blocked route.

Who it is for: Players interested in a procedural sandbox with gathering, construction and combat goals.

Play notes: Online expeditions support up to four players; multiplayer is not shared on one console.
