About this game

Dishonored is a PlayStation 3 puzzle game centered on rule recognition, spatial or logical judgment, and successive puzzle solving. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio, and input feedback need to support decisions directly, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that limited explanations, input recognition, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Collected in series

Dishonored is Arkane’s first-person stealth-action series, set in industrial cities threaded with supernatural intrigue. Explore buildings and backstreets, combine powers with tools, and decide whether to slip past an obstacle, subdue someone or fight. Missions leave room for both careful planning and improvised solutions.

Expressive infiltration and Dunwall art meet visible PS3 frame instability.

The original PS3 Dishonored gives the player a clear target but many ways to reach it. Corvo can climb past guards, possess small animals to enter narrow routes or combine weapons and supernatural abilities for a violent approach. The state of Dunwall responds to those choices. Compact missions reward replaying with nonlethal plans or more aggressive experiments; the revenge plot itself is thinner than the city and its systems. Painterly industrial architecture, sharp lighting and restrained danger cues make the plague-ridden setting a strong stealth space. Contemporary direct PS3 coverage praises its textures and light, but console observations also report frame-rate hiccups and screen tearing particularly on PS3. The visual instability matters during precise movement and is judged for this release rather than estimated from the PC edition. The creative core remains strong while that technical friction gets its own weight. This assessment covers the 2012 original PS3 content, excluding later assassin DLC, Definitive Edition and any unverified current patch state. It suits players who like studying spaces and devising repeated infiltration routes.

Strengths

  • Powers, routes and chaos consequences support varied plans.

Weaknesses

  • The revenge plot is slight and the PS3 image can tear.

Who it is for: PS3 players who enjoy replaying open stealth missions.

Play notes: Only original PS3 content is judged; DLC and Definitive Edition are excluded.
