About this game
Digimon Survive follows a group of young people searching for a way home from another world. You progress by talking with companions and investigating locations, choosing responses and actions that lead the story down different branches. Those decisions also influence the evolution of your monster partner. The adventure gives more space to its visual novel than to combat. When battles occur, you move monster units across a grid and issue commands in turns. Free Battles also provide opportunities to converse with wild monsters and recruit them when the exchange succeeds. Relationships, decisions and monster evolution connect the narrative to the party you bring into battle, within a darker story of survival.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A fit for readers who want their decisions to shape both the story and a monster partner.
Linking choices to evolution can make dialogue decisions feel consequential beyond the next conversation. The visual-novel emphasis should suit players who enjoy reading between tactical encounters, while those seeking frequent battles may find the balance less appealing.
Strengths
- Choice-dependent evolution can give a partner's development a personal narrative meaning.
- Recruitment conversations offer a reason to engage with wild monsters beyond defeating them.
Weaknesses
- The emphasis on reading may leave combat-first players wanting more frequent tactical encounters.
Who it is for: Players interested in branching stories, monster partnerships and occasional grid-based tactical decisions.
Play notes: The darker survival framing may be uncomfortable for readers seeking a consistently lighthearted Digimon adventure.
