About this game

Into the Breach puts you in command of futuristic mechs fighting the Vek. Enemy attacks are shown before they happen, so each turn begins with an opportunity to examine the threat and choose a response. Civilian buildings power your machines, and both enemy attacks and your own fire make their protection part of the tactical problem. Across the islands, you find new weapons and pilots to develop your force. Each attempt presents newly generated challenges, while defeat leads to sending help back through time to another timeline. The recurring task is to assess the next visible danger and decide how your available mechs can respond while keeping the cities in mind.

9.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

A strong conceptual fit for players who enjoy reasoning through visible tactical threats.

Advance attack information makes anticipating consequences a central attraction for deliberate planners. Buildings that power your mechs can turn an apparently useful shot into a difficult decision, giving defence a purpose beyond preserving your own units.

Strengths

  • Visible enemy intentions can make choosing a response feel like solving a concrete tactical problem.
  • Weapon and pilot discoveries may encourage players to reconsider how their force handles the next island's threats.

Weaknesses

  • The need to protect power-supplying buildings may feel restrictive to players who want to fire without considering collateral damage.

Who it is for: Players who like inspecting a turn, weighing consequences and adapting their plans to new weapons, pilots and generated challenges.
