About this game
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp rebuilds the campaigns of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. You move land, air and naval units through turn-based battles, using terrain and enemy weaknesses to plan your advance. Infantry can capture buildings to increase your income, which pays for more units. Eliminating enemy forces or taking their headquarters provides routes to victory. Your Commanding Officer changes how units perform and brings a special ability to the battle. The named officers also have distinct personalities. Both campaigns include turn rewind and fast-forward options. Beyond the campaigns, the Design Room lets you construct your own maps and arrange the battlefield yourself.
Collected in series
Advance Wars puts you in charge of a miniature army, moving tanks, infantry and aircraft one turn at a time. Capturing towns pays for reinforcements, while terrain and unit matchups turn each map into a tactical puzzle. Later campaigns add new fronts and a harsher vision of war.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A strong conceptual fit for players who enjoy turning territory and unit matchups into a plan.
Capturing income sources links movement to future purchasing power, so an advance can matter beyond the immediate attack. Officer abilities and terrain add reasons to reconsider the same position from different tactical perspectives.
Strengths
- The capture-and-income loop gives territorial decisions a clear consequence for army building.
- Campaign turn rewind offers room to reconsider a sequence of orders.
Weaknesses
- Players seeking continuous direct action may find turn-by-turn purchasing and positioning too deliberative.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy combined-arms planning, territorial control and experimenting with different commanders.
