De-Block

De-Block

Move and rotate a central block to receive pieces arriving from four directions, forming same-color squares. Passing avoids an unwanted piece but raises speed and carries a consecutive-pass limit.

About this game

De-Block puts the player in control of the growing assembly rather than the approaching pieces. Move and rotate it to attach blocks without gaps and build same-color squares, with score depending on their size. Colors cycle outward through blue, red and yellow. A preview shows the next block’s direction. Unwanted pieces can be passed, but each pass raises speed and three consecutive passes on one level end the game. Type A continues through levels; Type B uses level completion.

8.0 / 10Famicom / NES

For players who enjoy spatial assembly with moving arrivals.

Rotating the assembly changes the usual perspective on fitting pieces; passing provides a choice with a direct cost.

Strengths

  • The pass rule makes rejecting a piece a consequential action.

Who it is for: Players drawn to color grouping and rotation puzzles.
