About this game
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S - Kondo wa Puzzle de Oshioki yo! is a Super Famicom puzzle release centered on puzzle, maze, or device solving, rule recognition, and spatial or logical judgment. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on campaign length or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio cues, and state feedback need to support decisions directly, while sprite animation, scrolling, color, and chip-based audio jointly carry readability and atmosphere. The main genre-specific friction is that limited explanations, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. In addition, password or battery saves, multiplayer accessories, manual dependence, regional language, and cartridge enhancement chips can affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this release and excludes emulator features, modern-port conveniences, and content from other platforms.
Collected in series
Sailor Moon games bring the Sailor Guardians’ battles, friendships and signature powers into several kinds of play. Side-scrolling action, fighting, role-playing and puzzles offer different ways to spend time with the cast. The shared appeal is seeing familiar characters take the lead, even as the controls and pace change between games.

A character-rich matching puzzle with more depth, and more input complexity, than it first suggests.
Sailor Moon S combines clearing connected colors with placing incoming blocks, changing the board's shift direction and timing character-specific specials. Row-clearing attacks and time freezes meaningfully change a match, rather than merely decorating it. A second opponent cycle adds colors, while a separate twenty-stage timed mode introduces obstacles and rewards repeated study. Attractive character backgrounds, distinctive music and familiar voices make the boards inviting. The trade-off is an unusually busy control scheme: confusing shift and special buttons can waste an important move, and characters are not equally convenient. Remapping, difficulty and round-length options help, as do stage passwords. However, passwords require losing, and changing player two's clear button can disrupt CPU behavior. It suits puzzle fans prepared to practice.
Strengths
- Interacting matching, shifting, placement and special-move decisions
- Strong character backgrounds, music and voices
Weaknesses
- Complex controls and uneven character convenience
- Loss-only passwords and a player-two remapping fault
Who it is for: Character fans and competitive or timed-puzzle players willing to learn complex controls.
Play notes: Practice the separate clear, placement, shift and special inputs. Avoid casually remapping player two's clear button; record passwords after losses.
